Few things are as sweet as watching golf in St. Andrews through your TV — OK, playing it yourself would be better — so watching some of the game’s youngest and brightest stars battle the Old Course is something we’ve got circled on our calendars.
Plus, the Walker Cup is one of the coolest events in golf. You are going to want to tune in.
For the uninitiated, the Walker Cup is a biennial team match-play event between amateur golfers from the United States vs. amateurs from Great Britain and Ireland. For the most part, these players are largely in college programs and turn pro in the future, although not always. Stewart Hagestad, for example, is 32 and the oldest player on the U.S. team. (Matthew McClean, 30, of Ireland, is the oldest player on GB&I.)
Here’s everything you need to know about the Walker Cup including the teams, the format and how to watch.
