The 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur kicks off Wednesday and Thursday at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Georgia before the competition heads to Augusta National on Saturday for the final round. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the 2024 ANWA.
April has arrived, which means Augusta National is at the top of all golfers’ minds. But before we get to next week’s 2024 Masters, golf fans will be treated to the latest edition of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, where the top women amateurs in the game will compete for a chance to lift the trophy at the storied club.
At last year’s ANWA, Rose Zhang, the top-ranked amateur in the world at the time, fought off a near-collapse amid bad weather to win. But Zhang won’t be back to defend her title. Just two months after her Augusta triumph, she won her debut LPGA event as a professional at the Mizuho Americas Open.
While Zhang won’t be playing, seven other players who finished in the top-10 last year are in the field again in 2024, including Andrea Lignell, Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio, Latanna Stone, Yuna Araki, Megha Ganne, Caitlyn Macnab and Jennie Park.
The 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur is a 54-hole stroke play event. The first two rounds will be played at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga., on Wednesday and Thursday. Following those rounds, the field will be cut to the top 30 players and ties.
Friday will feature a practice round at Augusta National for all competitors, whether or not they made the cut. On Saturday, the top 30 players will compete across 18 holes at Augusta National to determine this year’s champion.
Since it’s an amateur event, no money is awarded to the winner of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. But they don’t go home empty-handed. The 2024 champion earns a spot in the next five ANWAs, four LPGA majors — the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, Women’s Open, Evian Championship and Chevron Championship — and any USGA and R&A event they are eligible for over the next year.
